Master Bedroom Kickoff

It’s been over a year since we have moved into our new home, and we don’t seem to have one. single. room. complete! Can you believe it? I know, me either! While I have a lot of great pieces in the house already, nothing seems to be quite finished.

After looking around the house and realizing I had A LOT of work to do. I immediately decided to throw in the towel, go with one room at a time. It’s much less overwhelming that way, or at least that’s what I keep telling myself!

So here’s what I’m working with in the Master Bedroom.

This gorgeous dresser and chest of drawers we bought last year. They look great in the Master and really go well with the light blue/gray walls.
These mercury glass candlesticks from Pottery Barn, a stunning mirrored tray &  mother of pearl box (all wedding presents from friends and family). I’m infatuated with mother of pearl & oyster shell, you can tell I’m an Island girl right? I also have an unhealthy obsession with all things mercury glass. I’ve actually got a couple of projects up my sleeves that are mercury glass inspired.
I’m also rocking this collection of beautiful frames (all wedding presents), that lack any pictures. Yes, I’m guilty of displaying frames without pictures. Yes it’s tacky, yes it’s creepy, yes it drives my friends crazy (that's your A & M). I don’t know why I do it, but I do! I’m getting some pictures printed this week to fill them! Notice the two mother of pearl frames, I told y’all I was obsessed!

This is the chest of drawers from the set. I just love it, but it’s a little too small for the space. I plan on making (fingers crossed, I can pull this off) some gorgeous curtains to help fill the space and not make the chest seem so small on the wall. I’ve got this vision in my head… just go with me here!

I saw this bamboo style desk in a re-sale shop and fell in love with its style and price tag! I was afraid it might be too light for the room, but I think it works. I could always stain it if I need it to darker, but for now it will do!

Here are the two pieces together. (I just realized that I never took the yellow tag off the T.V. and we’ve owned it for over a year!!! I’m running in there and taking it off pronto, I swear I’m more observant than this guys!)

Last but not least, here is the bed. Our giant king sized bed that Tyler, that adorable husband of mine, was instant that we buy! He is 6’2 so I guess it works. The bedding consists of a luxurious Ralph Lauren quilt I scored about $400 off last Black Friday (thank you Dillard’s), these ruffled linen euro shams from Pottery Barn and a soon to be duvet, this one to be exact! Mother got me a gorgeous pillow from their last trip to Italy and I plan on making that the center pieces of the bedding. It sports a monogrammed deer, I couldn’t think of anything better to represent our little family.

My absolutely favorite thing about the Master, besides the man I share it with, is this breathtaking handcrafted headboard that we bought for ourselves as a wedding present. It’s from Mr. Charles Phillips himself and is crafted from an 1780’s French Door. I fall more and more in love with it every time I see it, I hope it can be something that my children use and pass on to their children one day.
So I’ve your still with me here, and thank you if you are, here’s the vision I have for the room.

Two skirted side tables in burlap (or similar fabric). A couple of mercury glass (here I go again!) lamps. Those double curtained windows I was going on about. A unique chair for the desk. Driftwood accents. An end of the bed bench, I’ve still got my eyes out for one of these. As well as a slew of paintings that I plan on making.

Wish me luck guys, I’m gonna need it!

Xoxo
